1. Check the size of the solar panel – in this case, bigger is better.
Mono-crystalline (blue cells) is more efficient than amorphous cells (similar to what you see on solar scales, calculators etc). Don’t waste your money on tiny solar cells if they are powering more than 5-10 LED’s.
2. NiMH batteries perform better than NiCd when temperature and weather fluctuation is a problem. They are also more eco friendly on the environment at disposal time.
3. LED bulbs should be bright and even – when they are not, it indicates a problem with the power supply.
Solar panel’s with tempered glass increase efficiency of UV transfer to charge battery faster.
